Bedtime Bliss

Bedtime routines can be anything but blissful despite our best intentions.  Once we drift off to sleep, our rest is often interrupted by various factors.  This can leave us feeling less than ready for our new day.  Bring on the essential oils and restful sleep!

My first experience with trying to use an essential oil for sleep was (you might know it already) - Lavender oil.  I have to admit, I knew very little about oils then.  The one I had wasn't very effective due to lacking in potency and purity.  Eventhough it was labeled 100% pure, I learned it wasn't  - later on when I became more educated.  Sadly, this happens alot.  It's not only a waste of money but can even be harmful if you are not aware of some things. 

So, I began getting the best oils I could find....doTERRA - I chose them. The Lavender was amazing for rest, but even better was something special called Serenity (aka Lavender Peace).  I popped a few drops in the diffusers for my kids bedrooms one night - 5 minutes is what it took - all 4 kids were quiet and asleep.  Unheard of in my house!  Usually it was a good half-hour or more before things quieted down and settled upstairs.  In fact, that first night, I thought - "what are they up to?" and went and checked to find them asleep.  Where had this blend of oils been all my life!?  

Other oils I've found helpful for sleep are Roman Chamomile, Frankincense, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Bergamot, and also blends like Balance, Peace, or Breathe (aka Easy Air).   There are other amazing options for rest but these are definitely my go-to oils.  Juniper Berry gets a special mention at is has been helpful to many I know when their children have night terrors.
