Breath Mini-Mint Candies

Make your own mini-mints for freshening your breath throughout the day.  Cinnamon is one my favorite flavors.  You can even create your own flavors with essential oils that are ok for internal use. (see my list below) Spice, Citrus, and Minty oils are the main ones.  But even Lavender, Patchouli, and Ylang Ylang can give your mini-mints a musky, floral flavor. The key is to use less, not more essential oils.   Start with only a few drops.   Too many drops may be overpowering to lovely tasting mini-mints.  You can always add more if you like them stronger.

Here's how you make them:

1 package gum paste (cake decorating supplies)

¼ cup powdered confectioner's sugar

6 drops doTERRA essential oils such as Peppermint, Cinnamon, or Lemon essential oil 

Food coloring (optional)

Plastic straw

Take a section of gum paste and knead it until soft. Use about the size of a small lime.  Add your  essential oil drops, any food coloring desired.  Use very little food coloring - start with a drop and see if that is enough.   Knead it some more and then roll out in a thin sheet with a rolling pin. Use the end of the plastic straw, punch out shapes and roll  the mini-mints in powdered sugar to reduce sticking together.  Let them dry - can take up to a couple days.  

Place mints in a mini-tin box with lid like an Altoid mint tin or similar.
